Setting up home together?
Posted by Justin on Mar 12, 2015 in Nelsons' Column | 0 commentsAt any stage of life, if you are setting up home with someone else, it is important to get it right, but perhaps especially if you already have existing families of your own.
It is more and more common for people to start again with new life partners, and understandable if – in the light of their previous experience – they decide marriage is not for them.
As a result, there are many unmarried couples living together who have separate families of their own. Arranging financial affairs to do justice both to their partner and their existing family can be difficult, but help is available: I am happy to discuss (initially, in outline and free of charge) what arrangements might be suitable in your particular circumstances.
If you are happy with my suggestions, I can prepare Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and other documentation to ensure that if anything happens to you, neither your partner nor your existing family is treated unfairly by the legal consequences that would otherwise apply.
You have the option to take control of your affairs, and I will be happy to help you.
